13B Rotary(Wankel) turbo-LPG

Ref No: 06

This conversion was performed on a 13B-turbo engine. The Vehicle was a 4.5 t tipper (2.3t tare). The choice of vehicle was at random. The only requirements were a strong chassis and diff. The automatic runs through a 3500rpm stall-converter and is modified to take the load.
  • In the end, the stage 1 conversion to LP-Gas was hugely successful (for a picture of the tipper truck click on other conversion in the main page). The truck performed as follows on the dyno. The test was done in 2nd gear (out of 4, automatic) with 3/4 rpm (approx 6000) full throttle and limited to 100km/h. The details taken on the rear wheels were quite to my satisfaction. 200 HP (147kw) and 800Nm (about 600LB FT) without intercooler. Off the traffic light, the near 2.5 tonne truck is 2 truck length ahead of a 1993 5.7ltr. EFI Chevy Camaro. (No ¼ mile time available yet)
  • Stage/2 The engine will breath through an intercooler with water injection
  • Stage/3 a NOS System will be fitted.
  • Stage/4 the engine will be converted to Natural gas (Erdgas or methane) A 130 Octane fuel.
  • Stage2to4 will take place in a new pick up truck. A VW-Syncro T3 single cap, with (most likely) a Porsche 4-wheel drive train. This truck has about 1.5 tonne tare weight and will be fitted with a twin-rear-wheels in addition to the 4-wheel drive set up, to add to the traction. I’ll keep you posted. In the meanwhile a LPG kit (stage/1) is available for any rotary (Wankel) application.
